The 10K+ figure describes websites optimized over the career. It does not mean every site was specifically optimized for GEO.
DEFINITION
Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) is an approach to improving the content, context, entity clarity, relevance and usefulness of website information for modern generative search experiences.
I treat GEO as work on how a site explains itself: who it is about, what topics it actually covers, how pages relate, and whether the facts can be trusted. It is not a guaranteed method for getting cited or mentioned by AI systems.
GEO builds on SEO, search intent, helpful content, entity understanding, technical accessibility, content architecture, AEO, and AI SEO. Those layers overlap. GEO does not replace them.
PROCESS
This is how I work through a site when generative search is part of the picture. It is practical website work, not a product pitch.
Understand the business
Understand the audience
Identify important entities
Understand search intent
Research topics and questions
Build useful content
Strengthen context
Improve content architecture
Connect related entities
Strengthen internal linking
Demonstrate first-hand experience
Ensure technical accessibility
Consider AEO and AI search
Measure and improve
In practice that means starting with the business and the people who use the site, then mapping the entities that should be consistent: person, topics, locations, industries. Content is written to be used, not to game a model. Architecture and internal links show relationships. Experience is stated only where it is real. Technical access is checked so none of that work is invisible. Measurement looks at whether pages are findable and useful — not at promised citations.
RELATIONSHIP
These disciplines overlap and are not an official industry hierarchy. This represents the way I approach modern search optimization. AI SEO is the broader view of AI-powered search. AEO is about clear answers to questions. GEO is about entities, context, and usefulness inside generative experiences.
COMPARISON
Focuses on making websites discoverable, accessible and useful within organic search. Crawl, relevance, content quality, and links still sit here.
Focuses on content, context, entities, relevance and usefulness within generative search experiences. It assumes the site can already be found and understood.
Strong GEO still depends on strong SEO foundations. SEO is not dead. GEO does not replace SEO.
DISCOVERY
People still type keywords. They also ask follow-up questions, skim AI-generated responses, and move through conversational discovery. Answers can be summarised from more than one source. Entity-based responses and contextual search change the journey even when the underlying need is the same.
I do not claim to know a hidden ranking formula for any one generative system. What I can do is make a website easier to interpret: clear claims, consistent identity, supporting pages, and technical access. How any system selects or blends sources is outside what this page can honestly promise.
ENTITIES
Search systems benefit from information that clearly establishes relationships between entities. Mentions do not automatically improve rankings or produce AI citations.
Who is speaking, writing, or offering the work. Name, role, and career facts should match across pages.
What the site represents. Consistency matters more than repeating a name in every sentence.
The site as a source: what it covers, how pages relate, and which URLs are canonical.
The subjects the site actually knows. Depth comes from useful coverage, not page count.
Where the work is based and which search markets the projects serve. Those are different facts.
Who stands behind the page and what experience supports the claims. Invented credentials do not help.
Example on this site
Krishan Dev + SEO + AI SEO + AEO + GEO + Noida + Uttar Pradesh + India + 11+ years experience. Those relationships are stated because they are true of this professional identity, not because repeating them is a ranking trick. The about page holds the same career facts.
CONTEXT
Isolated keywords are not enough. A phrase such as “AI SEO” does not say who is writing, for which audience, from which place, or with what experience. Context is the surrounding information that makes the phrase usable.
Instead of only “AI SEO”, the fuller context on this site is closer to: Krishan Dev → SEO professional → AI SEO → AEO → GEO → 11+ years → Noida → India → international project experience. That chain helps people and systems understand the information. It is not a citation guarantee.
EXPERIENCE
Generative systems can summarise generic advice at scale. Pages that come from real website experience — SEO audits, technical implementation, content strategy, industry exposure, testing, and learning from actual projects — are harder to fake and more useful to read.
That is why 11+ years of SEO experience still sits behind this GEO page. The work started in Delhi (iSearch Solution, Digital Marketing Executive), then continued in Noida at Xantatech, Trignosoft Solutions Private Limited, RNF Technologies Private Limited, and AdsRole Private Limited. Education was BCA at Bareilly College (2010) and MCA at Khandelwal College of Management Science and Technology, Bareilly (2013), affiliated to Uttar Pradesh Technical University, Lucknow. Genuine professional experience is more valuable here than generic AI-generated copy.
QUALITY
Helpful content, in this context, means original information where you have it, clear explanations, accurate claims, relevant examples, useful context, supporting evidence, and respect for what the audience actually needs. First-hand knowledge belongs on the page when it is real.
The goal should be to create information worth using, not content written only to be mentioned by an AI system.
SOURCES
AI systems can use multiple sources. Selection can vary by system and by query. Clear, consistent entity information and useful content can improve understanding and discoverability. None of that is a universal GEO formula for citations.
This page does not promise citations in ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, or any other product. I do not sell “get cited” outcomes.
AI Overviews are AI-generated summaries inside Google Search. Search intent, helpful content, entity clarity, topical relevance, technical SEO, internal linking, and supporting information can make a page easier to use as a source. Google determines what appears in its search experiences.
There is no guaranteed AI Overview placement, visibility, or ranking from GEO work.
PLATFORMS
Modern AI search experiences include ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, and other emerging products. I do not split this page into thin “ChatGPT SEO”, “Gemini SEO”, or “Perplexity SEO” sections. The principles are the same: clear information, context, entities, relevance, helpful content, expertise, and technical accessibility.
Visibility in any of those platforms is not guaranteed.
RELATED
Making information clear and useful for answer-focused and question-based search.
Optimizing content, entities, context and relevance for generative search experiences.
A broader approach to modern AI-powered search.
Dedicated pages: AEO Expert and AI SEO Expert. This is how I relate the three. It is not an official industry hierarchy.
TECHNICAL
Generative search optimization cannot compensate for a website that search systems cannot properly access and understand. A clear entity story on a blocked, slow, or unindexed site does not travel.
ARCHITECTURE
Pillar pages, supporting pages, topic clusters, question content, entity relationships, internal linking, and supporting evidence belong in that map. Hundreds of thin pages do not.
IDENTITY
A personal site can make professional identity clearer: name, expertise, experience, education, career history, location, author identity, professional profiles, content authorship, consistent information, and entity relationships. This website is an example of that intent. It is not a claim that the same pages appear in generative answers.
The homepage and about page should agree with expertise and location pages. Mixed facts confuse people and systems.
LOCATION
Location entities — city, state, country — sit next to professional identity and search intent. Queries such as “AI SEO Expert in Noida”, “AI SEO Expert in Delhi”, and “AI SEO Expert in India” mix person, topic, and place. Location mentions do not guarantee rankings or AI visibility.
Existing location pages: Noida, Delhi, and India. Related context also lives on Uttar Pradesh and Bareilly.
INDUSTRIES
These are examples of information and search questions from industries I have worked with. They are not GEO case studies and they are not reported results.
What should buyers consider before choosing an engagement ring?
How does product context (metal, setting, occasion) change the buying question?
What does an on-hire vessel condition survey include?
What should a homeowner understand before a renovation starts?
Which informational questions does a wellness site need to answer clearly? (General information only — not medical advice.)
How should a programme page explain who it is for and what it is not?
What is technical SEO and why does it matter?
How can a professional site state experience without inventing results?
What location facts belong on a page, and which ones should stay off it?
How do entity and industry context differ from consumer product pages?
Industry context on this site is summarised on the industry page.
MARKETS
Project markets include India, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia. The primary international project market is the United States. That is search-market experience, not a claim of clients in every country, and not offices abroad.
Search context varies by market, audience, language, location, industry, search intent, and competition. I have been based in Noida for about 12 years.

Current projects
GEO is not a shortcut around SEO fundamentals. It builds on years of understanding websites, search engines, content, technical SEO, entities and search intent. Historical project volume is not GEO-only volume. Notes on search also appear on the blog.
FRAMEWORK
A working sequence I use. It is not proprietary technology.
Business and audience: what the site is for, and who needs the information.
Entities and topics: people, places, industries, and subjects that actually belong together.
Search intent and questions: what people need to know, not a keyword list to paste.
Content and information architecture: pillars, supporting pages, and readable headings.
Context and internal relationships so pages explain how topics connect.
Experience and expertise that can be stated as facts, not slogans.
SEO, AEO, and GEO as layers on the same useful page — not three separate tricks.
Search visibility and content performance over time. No platform placement is promised.
LIMITS
Good GEO should make information more useful, understandable, context-rich and accessible—not manipulate AI systems.

FAQ
Short answers about Generative Engine Optimization, entities, AI search, and the professional background behind this work.
Generative Engine Optimization is an approach to improving content, context, entity clarity, relevance, and usefulness for generative search experiences. It builds on SEO. It is not a method that guarantees citations or mentions.
It means making website information easier to interpret when systems summarise, combine, or answer from multiple sources. Clear facts, relationships, and technical access matter. Visibility in any specific AI product is not guaranteed.
SEO focuses on making websites discoverable, accessible, and useful in organic search. GEO focuses more on how content, entities, and context read in generative experiences. Strong GEO still depends on strong SEO.
AEO is about clear answers for question-based and answer-focused search. GEO is about entities, context, and topical relationships in generative search. They overlap. They are not the same job.
In how I work, yes. AI SEO is the broader practice. GEO is one component: generative search, entities, and context. That is my framing, not an official industry chart.
Helpful content, entity clarity, topical relevance, and technical SEO can make a page easier to understand. Google decides what appears in AI Overviews. Placement is not guaranteed.
No. Source selection varies by system and query. Citations are not sold or promised.
No. Gemini and other Google AI experiences are controlled by Google. GEO does not purchase or guarantee visibility.
No. Perplexity chooses sources in its own way. Clear, useful pages may be easier to interpret. Inclusion is not guaranteed.
It is central. Systems benefit when person, topic, location, and expertise are stated consistently. Mentioning entities does not automatically rank a page or produce citations.
Generic copy is easy to generate. Pages that reflect real website work, audits, and industry context are more useful. That is why 11+ years of SEO work still sits behind this approach.
Yes. Generative optimization cannot compensate for a site that cannot be crawled, rendered, or indexed reliably.
GEO is how I think about content and entities when discovery includes AI-generated answers and summaries. AI SEO is the wider discipline. Neither replaces crawlable, useful websites.
Krishan Dev is an SEO and digital marketing professional based in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The career began in Delhi. Education was completed in Bareilly. Work includes SEO, AI SEO, AEO, GEO, technical SEO, and digital marketing.
11+ years in SEO and digital marketing, with about 10K+ websites optimized over the career and 200+ current projects. Those figures describe the career, not GEO-only volume.
